4th, 5th and 6th classes welcomed the local author 'Colm McElwain into the school on January the 11th. Colm was born and raised in Monaghan, is a secondary school teacher. His first book is 'James Clyde and the Diamonds of Orchestra' and his newly published book is 'James Clyde and the Tomb of Salvation'.
Colm recounted on his early writing days - he informed the pupils about his struggle with writing his first story. He told them about how easy it could have been to give up, but he knew that this is where he wanted to get to. He explained the background to each of his books and encouraged the pupils to engagae with reading materials and novels. The importance of both reading and writing was emphasised by Colm that day. We thoroughly enjoyed his visit - by the end of his visit some pupils were half way through his new book already!
